Greg Wallis

Greg Wallis was first elected to the Assembly in 2022, winning by just 85 votes, and he won re-election in 2024. His district joins Coachella Valley tourism communities with the high desert and the agricultural and logistics economy near Redlands. His priorities are public safety funding, water and energy reliability, and the small businesses and tourism industry that anchor the regional economy.

Why We Endorsed: Greg Wallis is the incumbent Assemblymember in one of California's most competitive districts, and he has built a record of working across party lines on the issues that decide whether the Coachella Valley and Inland Empire stay affordable.

Alignment With NCC Priorities: Greg represents a district where water and energy are kitchen-table issues that cross party lines. The Coachella Valley lives by Colorado River and Salton Sea decisions, and the high desert depends on stable energy costs to keep tourism, hospitality, and logistics jobs in the region. Holding a swing seat through two cycles takes the kind of cross-aisle pragmatism NCC was built to support. On the water and infrastructure questions that decide whether his district stays affordable, he has been a builder.

The Race

District 47 spans parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, joining deep-blue Palm Springs and Cathedral City with the more conservative high desert and the Redlands area. It is one of the most closely watched seats in the state, and Republicans are on defense. Wallis faces Democrats Leila Namvar, a former local labor leader and city planner, and Jason Byors, a computer programmer and small business owner. The race is rated competitive and will likely be decided by a narrow margin in November.

A New California Starts With This Slate

Together, these fourteen candidates are the slate NCC believes can move California forward in 2026. They come from cities and counties up and down the state, from different backgrounds and different parties, and from different chapters of California's story. What they share is a commitment to getting things done: finding solutions to homelessness, building the housing, securing the water and energy, and growing the middle class jobs that working Californians need now. NCC stands behind each of them, and we are asking voters in their districts to join us. The California Dream is worth fighting for, and these are the leaders who will help us bring it back within reach.
